Is there a future on the big screen for Andy Murray? The retired British tennis star may have his foot in the door, following a noteworthy performance in a television ad shot in Australia.
The three-time Grand Slam champion called it a career at the 2024 Paris Olympics Games, teaming with Dan Evans in the doubles events. Following his retirement, Murray has showcased his versatility, participating in golf exhibition events and recently announced his position on the coaching team of former World No.1 Novak Djokovic.
With the 2025 Australian Open only a few weeks away, Murray is currently in Australia as he helps prepare Djokovic for the Melbourne slam. However, he took some time off from coaching duties to shoot a television commercial.
In the commercial, Murray plays an action man who’s being chased from a luxury hotel suite in East Melbourne, through the city streets and into a Chinatown restaurant, where he makes his escape by diving through the eatery’s front window, presumably with the help of a stunt man. The 37-year old substituted his clean tennis gear for mud-splatted t-shirt and shorts.
“I’m seeing a different Melbourne this time,” Murray said. “I’ve not been around some of these parts before, and it’s been good fun. It’s a big shoot. I’ve never done anything like this before because I never had the time. But it’s fun to do something like this.”
