After suffering a hamstring injury at the 2025 Australian Open, Novak Djokovic looked set to miss a significant amount of time. However, the Serbian recovered in record time, much to the surprise of former World No.1, Andy Roddick.

Following his hamstring tear in Melbourne, Djokovic took to social media to share a scan of his injury. This was done to silence doubters who believed the 37-year old had faked his injury as he called a medical timeout during his previous match.

Roddick impressed by Djokovic's recovery speed

In the latest episode of his Served with Andy Roddick podcast, the retired American admitted he initially thought Djokovic would be out of action for a long period of time. Roddick stated he even showed a copy of the scan to an orthopedic friend of his, who confirmed the Serbian could be out for at least six weeks.

"Gets hurt, puts out the image of a tear, and I just assume and I always get it wrong, because I apply what it would take most people to recover from something," began Roddick. "I didn't think we were going to see Novak. You put out the image of a tear and it's not as if I look at it and know what it is. I just know that it's not great.
"So, sent it to an orthopedic friend of mine and he's like, "Oh gosh! Normally that would take a while. It'd be six weeks." I'm like, "Oh!" In my mind, I'm going, "Maybe Monte Carlo, as a nice little home game for him now?" But we've seen him twice. We saw him two weeks ago in Doha and he's playing Indian Wells."

In addition to playing at Indian Wells, Djokovic has also been confirmed for the upcoming Miami Open.
