Following the conclusion of two thrilling clay court events in Munich and Barcelona, the ATP Race to Turin and ATP Rankings have seen slight movement as familiar faces have returned to previously held positions.
German superstar Alexander Zverev lifted the trophy in front of his home crowd at the Munich Open, finally ending his quest for a title in 2025. By virtue of this victory, the former Olympic gold medalist was able to leapfrog Carlos Alcaraz to reclaim the No.2 spot in both the ATP Race and Rankings, as the Spaniard fell in the Barcelona final to Danish star Holger Rune.

Rune rediscovering previous form

Although Alcaraz was the favorite to win his third Barcelona title on Sunday, the Spaniard was unable to overcome splendid play from Rune. The Danish youngster outplayed the home-favorite to secure a 7-6(6) 6-2 victory, and secure the second biggest title of his career. Additionally, Rune climbed four spots to World No.9 in the ATP Rankings, and moved up eight spots to the seventh position in the ATP Race to Turin.
Former World No.2 Casper Ruud dropped five spots to World No.15 in the ATP Rankings. The Norwegian suffered a quarterfinal loss in Barcelona to eventual champion Rune. Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev is inching closer to a top 10 exit, as the former US Open champion sits at World No.10 after dropping one spot in the rankings.
American tennis star Ben Shelton moved up two spots to the eighth position in the ATP Race. The Atlanta native finished runner-up to Zverev in Munich, becoming the first American man to reach a final at an ATP 500 European clay court event since Andre Agassi over two decades ago.
