Carlos Alcaraz is seemingly set to play at the Madrid Open in the coming days with the World No.3 saying that aside from a few more tests to come in the next few days, he is seemingly not set to miss any time.
Alcaraz felt an issue in his right thigh adductor against Holger Rune in the Barcelona Open final and immediately stopped playing to his highest level. The Spaniard ended up losing but perhaps wasn't the main worry for him at that time being if it was more serious and whether if he needed to miss Madrid.
Of course going onto the red carpet at the Laureus Sports Awards where he was pictured with Rafael Nadal who accepted a Sporting Icon Award, Alcaraz said that he believes it was merely just a scare.
He added that he worked with his physio ahead of his opening match of the tournament. The Spaniard won't actually play until at least Friday so has time to assess if the injury is serious enough to withdraw.
As well as the plan of action with training. Albeit given it is on home soil, he would likely try to play then consider whether he will play Rome instead of withdrawing from Madrid it is presumed. Time will tell on the next few days for Alcaraz but the initial signs are good.
"Honestly, I'm fine. It's nothing extraordinary. After competing for two weeks and embracing ten encounters in 12 days alongside traveling, my body gave me a small warning. I believe it's nothing serious. I will have some tests on Tuesday and see how it goes, but my feelings are positive," said Alcaraz on the red carpet at the Laureus Sports Awards.
"I worked with the physiotherapist today and noticed positive things. I believe everything will be fine ahead of my first match
