The second match looked far better for Auger-Aliassime who proved better than Nadal 6-3 6-4 keeping his semi-final chances alive.
For Nadal, this defeat means he's out of the running and it also means that Carlos Alcaraz will finish the year as the number one player in the world. It was another poor match from Nadal who started off really well. He had early break points but failed to use any of his four break points.
Auger-Aliassime did find some of his best tennis in those rallies blasting a few aces and forehand winners to save them. At 4-3 in the set Auger battled back from a 0-40 deficit thanks to some poor errors from Nadal and eventually, he got a break point which he converted.
The backhand of Nadal was all over the place and betrayed him a couple of times in that game. From there it was a rather comfortable win for Aliassim as he was simply much better. The serve was working, the forehand was working as well and the confidence from a few weeks ago returned after he snatched away the opening set.
A superb match from Auger-Aliassime who had 15 aces in this one as well as 32 winners. That's far too good for Nadal indoors.
