Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz has expressed his desire to win the Australian Open next year. The 21-year-old is already regarded as one of the best players currently playing in men’s tennis in the singles category along with the likes of Italy’s Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz was recently quoted in an ESPN report in which he spoke about his desire to win the Australian Open next year. The reigning world number three also mentioned that he now wants an Australian Open tattoo.
"I hope 2025 comes stronger,” he said. “I am a very ambitious boy and I want more and Australia is what I want to get tattooed even though my father doesn't like it very much. Being champion there is my main objective for next season. I'm starting a tough month of training, but being at home for Christmas and New Year's is wonderful and gives me a break."
Despite being so young, Alcaraz has already won three out of four Grand Slams, and for this reason, he also has three tattoos. The young Spaniard’s first title was the US Open, which he lifted in 2023 after beating Norway’s Casper Ruud in the final with a score of 6–4, 2–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–3. He then lifted the Wimbledon title two times — in 2023 and 2024. On both occasions, he got the better of the former world number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the final.
In 2024, the former world number one also lifted the French Open title for the first time after beating world number two Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of 6–3, 2–6, 5–7, 6–1, 6–2. The Murcia-born star’s best performance in Melbourne came in 2024, when he was knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal to Zverev with a score of 6-1, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
