Former legendary player Bjorn Borg walked out on a ceremony intended to honour him in India because the Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was running late.
The ceremony was initially scheduled to take place at 09:30 AM but was moved to 10:15 because the Minister was running late. The ceremony was supposed to honour Borg who is in India with his son Leo who was playing at a challenger event. The ceremony was also intended to honour Indian legend Vijay Amritraj but since the Minister didn't come until 11, Borg walked out.
He went to watch his son play whose match started at 11 local time. Asked by the media to comment, an official said:
"The Chief Minister was delayed due to some of his other commitments. We did inform him (CM) that Borg would be watching his son play and
would not be able to be present for the felicitation. But CM was very
sportive about the whole situation and decided to still come to the
courts and watch some action.”
The official added that the ceremony will take place tomorrow instead:
“Both of them will be felicitated at the chief minister’s office tomorrow or the day after."
