After his thrilling quarterfinal victory over Arthur Fils at the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters, Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz can add his name to an elite list of players to reach 10 ATP Masters 1000 semifinals in limited appearances.
The former World No.1 rallied from a set down to overcome his French opponent, escaping with a 4-6 7-5 6-3 victory. Alcaraz advances to his 10th ATP Masters semifinal, where he will face compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
By virtue of his win over Fils, Alcaraz has no progressed to 10 career ATP Masters semifinal. The 21-year old becomes just the 8th man in tennis history, since the introduction of Masters events in 1990, to reach 10 semifinals at the prestigious events in less than 30 appearances.
Alcaraz appears destined to be one of the greatest tennis players in history. The El Palmar native joins a list already inhabited by tennis royalty, with compatriot Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic already on the list.
Swedish tennis great Stefan Edberg, Australian Lleyton Hewitt and American Jim Courier have already established themselves on this illustrious list. German tennis great Boris Becker and American Pete Sampras round out the top eight, with 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal and 24-time Major titlist Novak Djokovic being the most recent additions to the list.
