Coric fights back agaisnt Raonic to set up St. Petersburg Open final clash with Rublev

Borna Coric overcame a terrible start against Milos Raonic to come back and win setting up a final clash with Rublev in St. Petersburg.

The semifinals day in St. Petersburg concluded with the 2nd semifinal where Borna Coric defeated Milos Raonic. The match lasted nearly two hours and Coric won 1-6 6-1 6-4. The start of the match was terrible for the Croatian as he could not hit anything against Raonic. Raonic came out focused hitting his serve at a very good percentage allowing him to end points quickly. Coric struggled immensely on his 2nd serve winning less than a third of those points. Raonic was clinical in high-pressure moments winning crucial points and ending the opening set in 37 minutes 6-1. The 2nd set was completely the opposite, literally the opposite. The result was 6-1 again but this time for Coric.

It took only 28 minutes for Coric to end the 2nd set by smashing Milos 6-1. Coric served incredibly well and played very composed forcing Raonic to make many mistakes. The Canadian won only one of six points on his 2nd serve and got completely blown away. The 3rd set was very interesting. Both players opened in it well but Raonic failed to use break points he had and after that, his level dipped. Coric used that to break him in the next game giving himself a 4-2 lead. Not much happened after that since both players played well. Coric never allowed Raonic to get back into the match.

Ultimately it was a strong comeback win for Coric who moves on to the final in a bid to challenge Rublev for the St. Petersburg Open final.
