Dan Evans put in a great effort against
Grigor Dimitrov and beat him to reach the Erste Bank Open Vienna semifinal.
It was a very good display from the Brit who played against Dimitrov who has shown spectacular tennis, especially against Tsitsipas. Some o those glimpses were shown today as well but Evans still bested him 7-6(5) 4-6 6-3. The opening set showed us just how much of a battle this would be. The 2nd set continued the trend of a tight match with a lot of battle. Dimitrov opened up better breaking Evans early in the set. The Brit started playing much better later and even had chances of his own but Dimitrov survived multiple times. He himself could not use his own chances to increase the lead but it didn't matter as he still won it 6-4. The level of tennis displayed was spectacular akin to some high profile grand slam match but it got even better. The third set saw Evans put up a show early breaking Dimitrov to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
The match continued with both players winning their own service games. Dimitrov tried challeneging Evans but the Brit had a good grip on his serve and in the rallies the Bulgarian usually fell short.
