Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed his availability to participate in the 2025 season. The 21-year-old is already regarded as one of the best players currently playing in men’s tennis in the singles category along with the likes of Italy’s Jannik Sinner.

The young Spaniard has confirmed his participation in an exhibition event in 2025 in a post on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. This development is interesting, considering that Alcaraz has expressed his concern about the tough tennis schedule.

“Sometimes, you don't want to go to a tournament. I'm not going to lie,” said Alcaraz earlier this year while talking about tennis schedule. “I have felt this way a few times already. Sometimes I don't feel motivated at all. But as I've said many, many times, I play my best tennis when I smile and enjoy it on court. That's the best option to keep motivating.”

He was recently responded to by ATP chief Andrea Gaudenzi, who stated that players must decide if they want to play on-tour competitions or off-tour events. "Some players choose to do a lot of exhibitions off the tour,” he said while talking to L'Equipe. “You don't see that in other sports. The question is whether you want to invest on the tour or off the tour.

The former world number one recently participated in the Garden Cup, an off-season exhibition event. He also featured in the Six King Slam in Saudi Arabia, another exhibition event. Recently, former American player John Isner also expressed concern about Alcaraz's participation in these exhibition events. He believed that if Alcaraz didn’t do well in the competitions next year, people would question his work ethic.

“None of us begrudge Carlos going out there and collecting two massive cheques but Sinner seems to be putting his head down after his fantastic year and going back to work, keeping a low profile and both of them will be ready to go in Australia,” he said. “I think if Carlos doesn’t perform that well at the Australian Open a lot of people are going to jump on the fact that he was in the United States in December playing exhibitions as opposed to getting ready. I don’t think that’s fair, but that’s the way it’s going to be.”
