Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic is set to start his 2025 season without coach Andy Murray. The 37-year-old, who is already regarded as the greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category, will begin his 2025 season with the Brisbane International.

Djokovic will take part in the competition for the first time since 2009. However, as per the latest report from Yahoo sport, the former world number one Murray, who will be Djokovic’s coach in the 2025 season, will not be able to join the Belgrade-born star on the sideline during the competition.

It is not clear why the three-time Grand Slam winner will not be able to join Djokovic in Brisbane. The 24-time Grand Slam winner has been quoted in a report where he expressed his excitement about taking part in the mega-event.

“I’m excited to be kicking off my Australian swing at the Brisbane International and to compete again at Pat Rafter Arena,” he said. “I am looking forward to experiencing the incredible support from the Australian fans and making this tournament one to remember.”

Djokovic will be hoping that his 2025 season will be better than the one just ended. It was the first time in seven years that the legendary tennis star failed to win a single Grand Slam. His best performance in a mega-event came at Wimbledon, where he lost in the final to young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. Overall, Djokovic’s best performance in 2024 came while playing in the Paris Olympics, where he won a gold medal for his country and completed his trophy cabinet as well. He defeated Alcaraz in the final of the singles category event in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6. His last appearance was in the Paris Masters where he came second-best in the final to world number one Jannik Sinner.
