'Djokovic's AO title was surprising, after serious injury clalims,' said Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas will compete in the Monte Carlo Masters semi-final after playing on a high level this week at the Principality, facing Daniel Evans in the battle for the final.

Evans took down Novak Djokovic in the third round, causing a Major upset after stunning the world's leading player 7-5, 6-4 in just over two hours. It was Novak's first loss of the season after winning nine matches in Melbourne and one in Monte Carlo against Sinner, not feeling the ball and making too many errors. Speaking about Novak's loss, Stefanos said that it came as a surprise, as no one expected that (Evans came to Monte Carlo with four ATP wins on clay).

On the other hand, the Greek also stated that Djokovic's Australian Open crown also came as an unexpected one since he claimed to have a severe injury since the third round and his match against Taylor Fritz.

"To see Djokovic winning the Australian Open earlier this year was very surprising, considering that he claimed to have a serious injury. He seemed to be doing all right. Now in Monte Carlo, everyone was surprised with his loss to Evans," Stefanos Tsitsipas said.
