The draw for the ATX Austin Open 2025 has been made. The competition
will be played from February 24 to March 02 in Texas, where some notable players
will take part. Number one seeded player, America’s
Jessica Pegula, will start
her campaign against Netherlands’ Arantxa Rus in the opening round of the
competition.
Number two seeded player, Russia’s Diana Shnaider will
player her first round encounter against a player from the qualification round.
The 30-year-old will come into the competition after having a disappointing outing
in the Dubai Duty Freen Tennis Championships where she was knocked out after
losing in the second round to Lind Noskova, in straight sets with a score of
6-3, 7-6.
Defending champion China’s Yue Yuan will face Australia’s Kimberly Birrell in her first-round clash. The 26-year-old lifted the title last
year after beating fellow countrywoman Xiyu Wang in the final in straight sets with
a score of 6-4, 7-6.
First edition’s champion, Marta Kostyuk, who lifted the
title after beating Varvara Gracheva in the final in straight sets with a score
of 6-3, 7-5, will not take part in the event. First edition’s runner-up, Gracheva, will play America’s Peyton Stearns in the round of 32 clash of the competition.
