Entry List Men's 2025 ASB Classic headlined by Ben Shelton, Alejandro Tabilo and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard

The entry list for the ATP 250 ASB Classic has been revealed, with the tournament headlined by Ben Shelton (No. 21), Alejandro Tabilo (No. 23), and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (No. 31). The event is scheduled to take place during the second week of the season, from January 6 to January 12, 2025. It will serve as the final preparation opportunity for ATP stars ahead of the Australian Open.

The action will feature several young stars among the seeds, including Flavio Cobolli (No. 32) and Alex Michelsen (No. 31). South American talent will also be prominent, led by defending champion Tabilo, along with Argentinians Francisco Cerúndolo (No. 30) and Sebastián Báez (No. 27).

Tabilo aims to defend Auckland title

Back in 2024, Auckland marked the start of a sensational year for Chile’s Tabilo, who shocked the field by claiming his first ATP title after defeating Japan’s Taro Daniel in the final (6-2, 7-5). This time, the 27-year-old enters as one of the favourites and will look to defend his title before heading to Melbourne.

However, the competition will be tough, with several contenders aiming to start their year on a high note. The draw notably does not include any top-20 players, as most are already preparing in Melbourne for the first Grand Slam of the year.

Shelton, the tournament’s first seed, has no commitments in the season’s opening week and will make his 2025 debut in Auckland, a situation mirrored by Argentina’s Cerúndolo, who is also skipping the first week’s events.

Beyond the seeded players, several competitors have a strong chance to improve their rankings early in the season in what appears to be an open draw. Experienced players such as Jan-Lennard Struff (No. 42), Cameron Norrie (No. 49), and Gaël Monfils (No. 55) are also part of the field. The tournament still awaits the confirmation of wild cards and qualifiers, with potential entries including Corentin Moutet, Adrian Mannarino, and Botic van de Zandschulp.
