Alexander
Zverev finished the 2024 season as the leader in aces, delivering nearly 800 in
his 90 matches throughout the year. The German's serve was key to regaining his
career-best ranking as World No. 2, topping a leaderboard that includes players
like
Hubert Hurkacz,
Ben Shelton, and
Jannik Sinner.
According
to Infosys ATP Stats, Zverev claimed the ace title for the first time in his
career. It’s the fifth time the German has ranked in the top 5 for aces in a
season but the first time he finishes at the top.
Zverev reigns as 2024 ace leader
Interestingly,
Zverev’s total of 800 aces marks the first time in ATP history that a season’s
ace leader fails to surpass this threshold. Zverev is the player with the
fewest aces to lead the annual leaderboard since 1991 when Guy Forget ended the
year with just 595.
Behind him
is Hubert Hurkacz, last year's ace leader with over 1,000—a remarkable feat
achieved by only 10 players in ATP history. In 2024, Hurkacz hit 736 aces in 58
matches, despite undergoing knee surgery mid-season.
Trailing
them are American players
Taylor Fritz (725) and Ben Shelton (619), who
maintained top-10 positions from last season, ranking third and fourth,
respectively. Russian
Andrey Rublev rounds out the top 5.
World No. 1
Jannik Sinner appears in sixth place with 563 aces in 2024. The Italian also
impressed with his service game, winning 91.4% of his service games throughout
the season—the highest percentage on the ATP Tour this year.
