The Entry List is set for the Monte-Carlo Masters which is due to take place between 6-13 April, 2025 which is a staple opener of the clay court season and is the first in a run that includes Rome, Madrid and finally Roland Garros.
Stefanos Tsitsipas like he has been recently hit form at the right time to take the title last year in a heroic run. He defeated Casper Ruud 6-1, 6-4. They had a bit of a series with Ruud going on to avenge that loss in Barcelona.
Ironically Tsitsipas until recently didn't have an ATP 500 and that was one of the titles that he could've won. Ruud then went on to win Geneva. Both will return this year with Tsitsipas perhaps in some of the best form of his career right now. Ruud is always a top player on the clay and so will no doubt be a factor.
Jannik Sinner won't be though. Not usually a top player on the surface in years gone by, the Italian is banned until at least Rome for taking the substance Clostebol. He was due to undergo an appeal with CAS at around this time but instead he decided to take a three month ban to wipe his slate clean.
But instead of Sinner, we will get Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz leading the line in terms of star power. Zverev in particular will want to bounce back after spurning recent chances to claim the World Number One spot by the time the clay rolls around. Given it is a preferred surface of the German, he will hope to make a better fist of the Roland Garros warm-ups.
Novak Djokovic is also slated to return. Albeit his clay court run last year could mirror this year as he had poor form going into the clay last season and suffered multiple crushing defeats. He rebounded at the Olympic Games on the surface but will hope for a better run especially in an event he has never had much success in.
