Although Bjorn Borg has been labeled as one of the greatest players to ever lift a tennis racket, his son, Leo, believes his legendary father is not very knowledgeable on the sport.
The Swedish tennis icon had a distinguished career while active on the ATP Tour, winning 11 Grand Slam singles titles in addition to attaining the World No.1 ranking. Furthermore, he was considered as one of the best players on clay, and enjoyed a famous rivalry with American tennis counterpart, John McEnroe.
Leo Borg is following his father's footsteps, as the 21-year old is trying to make his own name on the ATP circuit. Ranked at World No.496, Borg was eliminated in his attempt to reach for the main draw of the Barcelona Open, falling in the qualifying event last weekend.
While Bjorn Borg was present to watch his son in action, the former World No.1 also had other duties as he was in Barcelona receive the tournament’s new off-court ‘Fuera Pista’ award. During the event, Borg revealed his son did not like asking him for advice.
"Our son plays good tennis and travels a lot,” Borg said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo. “I said, ‘Do you have any questions? You can always come to me and ask me anything’. And my son says, ‘You don't understand anything about tennis’.
“Fine, thank you very much. But you can come to me whenever you want. He has a good team that travels with him. And I'm there whenever he wants or needs me."
