Jenson Brooksby's final suspension has been handed out after he committed three whereabouts failures in a 12-month period as confirmed by the ITIA.
The former World No.33 who at one point was one of America's great tennis hopes will now have a suspension of 18 months which will mean that barring appeal, he will have another year off the sport after not playing since the turn of the year.
Players must give the ITIA an hour every day when they know they will be in a certain location in case of drug testing and Brooksby had an automatic infraction. The independent tribunal met on October 10 in London, Brooksby testified as well as the doping control officer.
He only disputed one test with only one needed in favour of the American to throw out the suspension. His contention was that he was in his hotel at the time and place specified.
But the independent tribunal it seems did not buy his version of events. The suspension was backdated to July 5, 2023 and he took a voluntary provisional suspension.
He had wrist surgery in May anyway so took a suspension based off that but now he is banned including from attending any ITIA sanctioned tournament until early 2025.
