Yannick Hanfmann and Daniel Altmaier are through to the third round at the Madrid Open where they will face each other with a German guaranteed in the latter stages.
Hanfmann was a superb victor over Lorenzo Musetti in just under two hours sealing a 6-4, 7-6 win and make it 10 wins from his last clay court matches. A player certainly to watch heading into Roland Garros.
While Altmaier saw off his compatriot, Oscar Otte. After receiving a first round bye as a lucky loser due to Pablo Carreno-Busta withdrawing, he made good on his chance.
He sealed a 6-4, 7-5 win with Alexander Zverev still to come also for German hopes in the draw. He plays on Friday.
