"He didn't have to sit out while they weren't 100 percent sure": Questions remain in Jannik Sinner case says Roger Federer

After Rafael Nadal responded to the Jannik Sinner doping drama, the next to respond in the legends department is Roger Federer. He doesn't see that the Italian did anything wrong.
But with a caveat in that his view, the fault lies with the fact that he was allowed to still play while they knew something wasn't 100% and that questions need to be asked.
Albeit it was very much a democratic answer with Federer calling for a trust the process mentality with it all instead of a witch hunt. Sinner has received criticism from some sections of tennis for his involvement in this in recent weeks.
Albeit he has played with more freedom it seems having this off his chest now and being able to play like he wants to without that issue looming large. Federer is in town to watch the US Open keeping his toe in the water of tennis despite showing little to no want to still be involved in coaching or commentary.
“It’s the nightmare of every athlete and team to have these allegations and these problems because we fill out these forms all day every day. And it lives with you. Every morning when you wake up, you think, ‘Is somebody at the door coming to test me?’ So it’s really difficult," said Federer in an interview with Today.
"I understand the frustration of, 'Has he been treated the same as others?' And I think this is where it comes down to." I think we all trust pretty much that Jannik didn’t do anything, but the inconsistency potentially that he didn’t have to sit out while they weren’t 100 percent sure what was going on, I think that’s the question here that needs to be answered. But look, it is what it is, and we need to trust the process as well of anyone involved here."
