Novak Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud in the Roland Garros final but praised the Norwegian after the match explaining that the loss won't define him.
Casper Ruud slowly worked his way into the top 10 and he proved more than once that he didn't get there by chance. He's now contested three grand slam finals and while he did lose all of them, that certainly doesn't happen by chance. No player makes a grand slam final by chance and Ruud has been winning trophies for a few years.
There is a clear lack of big ones but they will come if he keeps playing and working towards it. He's proven to be very consistent, especially on clay so sooner or later, things will likely work out for him well in the future. Djokovic certainly believes that as he praised him after the match, admitting that he sees him in more grand slam finals after this one.

Djokovic praises Ruud

Novak Djokovic beat Ruud comfortably but after the match, the Serbian praised Ruud for everything that he was able to do in his career so far believing that he deserves all of his success:
“Casper deserves his success, he is one of the most consistent players of the last years. It's sad for him to lose a 3rd Slam final, but I'm sure this isn't his last. Casper is the type of person who doesn’t let himself be overcome by losses, but learns from them”
Those are very nice words from Djokovic who generally is very complimentary to his opponents which comes from his own humble nature and recognizing that not all were blessed with his talent and the ability to produce the level he can. When it comes to Ruud, he's still young and his level isn't going anywhere so more finals are likely to come in the future.
