Despite his inactive status on the ATP Tour over the last year, Nick Kyrgios maintains a presence in the tennis community as he was recently involved with commentary for Wimbledon and the US Open.
The Australian tennis star is known for his temperamental attitude on and off the courts, in addition to having squabbles with several of his ATP colleagues. A more notable example was his beef with former World No.1 Novak Djokovic, which was resolved sometime in 2022. Following the Covid pandemic, the Serbian was almost arrested at the airport in Melbourne and separated into quarantine in isolation due to his vaccine status. Kyrgios publicly spoke out about Australia's treatment of the 24-time Grand Slam champion, leading to him and Djokovic developing a friendship soon afterwards.

Kyrgios delves into his relationship with Djokovic

In a recent episode of his Tennis Inside podcast, Kyrgios touched on how he and the Serbian became friends. The former World No.13 added he still could not believe he and Djokovic had become such good friends over time.
"The fact that I played in the Wimbledon final against Novak is a crazy fact, because we are so different and now we are great friends, so it's phenomenal and we often meet when he needs something, great," said Kyrgios. "It's crazy, I couldn't even dream that I would be good friends with Novak Djokovic, and I don't mean just on the court. Now, we hear each other, we send each other messages and funny things on Instagram."
Kyrgios has been out of action due to injury for over a year, but competed in a mixed exhibition match at the 2024 US Open. Additionally, he was the post-match interviewer for several high-profile matches at the Grand Slam event.
