"I don't like it, I like the tactics": Rafael Nadal highly critical of 'hitting without thinking' mentality of Next Gen tennis stars

Spain’s legendary tennis star Rafael Nadal has took a dig at younger players to not putting too much thinking about how to succeed on the court.

The 37-year-old is regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of men’s singles tennis in the Open era, having won as many as 22 Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career.

Nadal was recently quoted in a report where he took at younger players for not putting too much thinking behind how to succeed on the court.

"It has evolved into a tennis of hitting harder, of hitting without thinking. It does not require point preparation to find the winning shot. Most of them play similarly. I don’t like it. I like the tactics,” he said.

Nadal has recently returned to the court after nearly a break of 12 months because of a knee injury. It was because of this reason he ended up missing three out of four Grand Slams in 2023.

Nadal is currently taking part in the Brisbane International where he has already cemented his place in the quarterfinal after defeating Australia’s Jason Kubler in the round of 16 in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday. He is now set to face off against Jordan Thompson in the last-eight clash on Friday.
