"I haven't done anything wrong, that's why I'm still here": Jannik Sinner won't respond to Nick Kyrgios doping criticism

Jannik Sinner is defiant in his innocence despite the consistent jibes levelled at him by Nick Kyrgios who has been heavily critical of the World No.1 since he tested positive twice for the substance Clostebol which was confirmed in November.

Sinner took to Australian Open press and of course most of the debate surrounded his positive doping test with the news coming out technically at the end of the season and with his CAS appeal incoming.

But Sinner hit back and said that he wouldn't respond to Kyrgios's comments as he is still here and still playing and in his mind hasn't done anything wrong.

“I don't think I have to answer this, to be honest. How do I block it? It's not that you just put it in a part and you just say I don't think any more about this. In my mind I know exactly what happened, and that's how I block it, no? I haven't done anything wrong. That's why I'm still here," said Sinner in Australian Open press on Friday.

"That's why I'm still playing. I don't want to respond on what Nick said or what other players says. I think the most important part is to have my people around me who contrast people, they exactly know what happened. That's it.”

But whilst he has dealt with the effects of the positive test mentally, he said he hasn't changed what he eats and how he prepares. “No, because l've done the same thing before. As I approach these things, they haven't changed. Before I was very, very careful on every single medicine I take, even what I eat. When the bottle is open, I throw it away, I take a new one.

I was always very, very careful about this stuff. No, it hasn’t changed.”
