Alexander Zverev is currently playing in his first round at the 2025 Munich Open and as he shifts onto clay, he is under no illusion as to the task that awaits him in the coming months.

Zverev is facing Alexandre Muller and is deep into the first set in Munich. He spoke to Tennis.com prior to the tournament and said that he still has faith he can turn it around. He mused that only a month or so ago he was in the Australian Open final so hasn't forgotten how to do it.

Albeit of course he will remark that he attempted to be World No.1 through the Golden Swing only a few months ago and failed which saw him unable to bridge the gap from there.

He was under pressure to gain that World Number One spot and faltered which has set him back since and he will aim to make it a hat-trick back home to kick start a revival.

"Of course I haven't played particularly well. I lost to a lot of guys that I should have beaten," he admitted. "I still believe I can play well on the big stage. I mean, I played in the Australian Open final three months ago. That said, I haven't forgotten how to do it. But yes, the last few weeks have been a bit more difficult, but I'm still very confident that I will play well now and hopefully in the next few weeks," Zverev said.

"I think I will get out of my phase soon too. I feel like I'm starting to play better and better. I think I need to win one or two close matches. And I still have faith in myself. I still have faith in myself that I will start playing really good tennis by the time Paris comes around and that Paris will still be the main focus."
