Novak Djokovic made easy work of Federico Coria on Thursday at the Belgrade Open, cruising past the Argentine to reach the semifinals of his home event.
The Serbian played near-perfect tennis to record a 6-1 6-0 win over his opponent, requiring just 56 minutes to secure his victory.
“You won't always want to play like this, it's not always possible,” Djokovic said after the match. “But I think this definitely helps me feel better on the court. I think everything worked perfectly for me today.”
The top seed was broken once in the first set, but stayed perfect in the second as he never even faced a break point.
“It was the first time that I played against Coria and I tried to impose an aggressive style of tennis from the very beginning and not allow him to have too much time to play around,” Djokovic added. “I played a phenomenal second set, really flawless.”
The World No.1 will face Andrej Martin in the semifinals, as Martin defeated hometown favorite Dusan Lajovic in three sets in their quarterfinal encounter.
