Boris Becker joined Mats Wilander expressing worry about the state of Nadal's healthy following an abrupt end to the season for the Spaniard.
Nadal has struggled with his health for the better part of his career suffering from injuries only a few years into his career. Yet the Spanish player always found a way to come back and continue playing. After another abrupt end o the season many are expressing worry about his ability to do so again.
Mats Wialnder was the first and now Boris Becker joined him:
“You have to worry about
Rafael Nadal's health. He is a very physical player and has to train a lot. The matches, even if they are often won in two sets, always take one and a half or two hours because the rallies are so long. That's why he always reaches his physical limits. And if he is just one step slower or can't run left-right twenty times, then he doesn't feel strong enough.”
Becker admitting that age is simply cathcing up with Nadal:
"You've been doing it for ten or 15 years and you know what to do, but it's all much more difficult beyond 30, beyond 35. Nadal and Federer have the same problem now.”
But he also believes a break will do him good:
“Time does not stand still for him. He needs the break - it will do him good.”
