Australian
singer Daniel Estrin was a lawyer for
Novak Djokovic in his visa case.
The
Australian singer has an unexpected connection to the 22-time Grand Slam
champion Novak Djokovic. Daniel Estrin was one of the lawyers who worked with
Nole in his visa revocation case just before the 2022
Australian Open, which
prevented him from participating in the tournament.
According
to tennis journalist Ben Rotherberg, the singer is an expert in migration and
even faced the media during the controversial moment of the Serb, who was
subsequently deported by Australian authorities:
"The
claim of Djokovic’s lawyers is supported, and they have good prospects in
court, i.e. that the court will determine an ‘error in jurisdiction’. This
means that a legal error was made, that the decision to cancel the visa is null
and void, and that they will return Djokovic's original visa," Estrin had
said at the time.
The world
No. 1, who will lose his position at the top of the rankings to Spanish player
Carlos Alcaraz on Monday, advanced once again in the Rome Masters 1000. The
6-time Rome Open champion had to battle until the third set against Bulgarian
player Grigor Dimitrov and will play the fourth round against Cameron Norrie.
