The first two sets were very close as both were finished in the tiebreak. Zverev won the first one and after squandering two match points he collapsed in the 2nd tiebreak allowing Dimitrov a chance. The Bulgarian almost took it being the first to have break points in the 3rd set but Zverev was able to wiggle his way out of that and win the match.
After the match, he said:
“[It was an] incredible match. Grigor is playing very high-level tennis and I had to leave everything out there. I think it was a very high-level match and it could have gone both ways, especially the third set. I am happy with how things went in the end.”
Zverev continues to play great tennis after his triumph in Vienna despite feeling fatigued and tired which he admitted after he won the previous round match. It will be interesting to see how far Zverev can go considering the ATP Finals are coming up as well.
