Britain’s young tennis star, Jack Draper, has withdrawn from the upcoming Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships. The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the most talented players currently playing in men’s tennis in the singles category.
Draper, in a post on his official account on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — announced that he will not take part in the upcoming ATP event in Dubai. “Unfortunately, I have made the decision to withdraw from Dubai Duty Free,” he wrote. “After a great week at Qatar Open Tennis I’m taking onboard advice to prioritise my recovery and manage my body after a number of long matches, and give myself the best chance of competing consistently throughout the year.”
Draper was set to play in the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championship. The event is set to be organised from February 24 to March 01, and some of the top players are set to participate to secure the ultimate prize. Draper recently had a fabulous run in the Qatar Open, where he finished as the runner-up after losing to Russia’s Andrey Rublev in the final with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 6-1. The performances in Doha would have been pleasing for the Sutton-born, who had a tough beginning to the 2025 season.
Before featuring in Doha, Draper featured in the Australian Open where he was knocked out after being forced to retire in the fourth round against Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. Last year, France’s Ugo Humbert lifted the title in Dubai after beating Alexander Bublik in the final with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
