Currently at the Tokyo Open, Nick Kyrgios' ongoing assault case took a further turn on Tuesday after a court hearing where his lawyer applied to dismiss the charge of common assault on mental health grounds.
Kyrgios’ lawyer, Michael Kukulies-Smith applied for the charge which was accused by his former girlfriend, Chiara Passari concerning an alleged incident back in December 2021 to be dismissed under Section 334 of the Crimes Act.
An adjournment has been granted for a mental health assessment to take place with his lawyer making this request after reviewing his medical history since 2015, including public disclosure of his mental health struggles.
This court case though will not continue until February 3rd where a hearing will take place regarding the application with Kyrgios wanting to attend in person despite it not being necessary.
