Jakub Mensik sealed the title at the Miami Open but will not begin his clay court season next week at the Monte-Carlo Masters which begins on April 6 in Monaco. He instead will play later in the clay court season in Munich.

Mensik stunned the tennis world by becoming the second new winner in a row on the ATP 1000 circuit defeating highly fancied players to do so just like Jack Draper did at Indian Wells.

It was the time of the young guns as Draper who lost to Mensik in Miami ironically won Indian Wells the week before with both being highly touted now as players to watch behind Sinner and Alcaraz.

Mensik in particular being less experienced and younger than Draper perhaps is more of a less polished diamond and hasn't had the injury scar tissue that Draper has in recent years. But it is an exciting time to watch players like Mensik although he won't play next week.

Having been seen with Jake Paul in Miami and having a press conference back home on Wednesday to celebrate his win, Mensik will play from April 14 in Munich. The German city hosts an ATP 500.

Speculation began about whether he was going to play Monte-Carlo this morning with the Czech ace withdrawing from qualifying. Some speculated that he may have got a wildcard.

But that wasn't the case as he has promptly withdrawn overall. Being World No.24 now, he won't have to play qualifying much in the future and will get the chance to properly show whether it was a one-week wonder or if he is a future Grand Slam champion in the reckoning.

Of those currently who played in Miami, Novak Djokovic will be the leading player who went far who will be involved. Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas are also entered for the clay court opener on the ATP 1000 circuit in the picturesque Monagasque region.
