"Merci beaucoup, Paris. That's all I can say": Zverev jokes about becoming French to tackle partisan crowd

Alexander Zverev is back at the French Open winning matches similar to the way he was winning last year and he's hoping to have the crowd behind him.

Zverev won two matches at Roland Garros this year and the second one was particularly impressive with the Gemrna posting an impressive scoreline showing a similar level to the one he had last year. Last year we saw Zverev play extremely well but his ankle injury shortened that run leaving him unable to play for a while.

He's back this year admitting that he was looking forward to playing on Chatrier again wanting to do well and showing himself to be fearless stepping on the court where he suffered such a horrific injury. He did just that but after the match, he also admitted that he was quite nervous which is normal.

Winning over French crowd

This match was easier because he had the French crowd behind him and it's something he hopes to have moving forward as well. Playing against the crowd is not very easy as the Parisian crowd is very loud and passionate. He joked about hopefully becoming French for the next few days in hopes of having their support as the event goes on.

"It's not so nice to play when you guys are against us because it is very loud, it is very hostile. But maybe for the next 10 days, I can become French and then we can all be happy when I'm here on court and we can enjoy the court here. Merci beaucoup, Paris. That's all I can say."

Next match will be very tough as he faces Frances Tiafoe who will certainly make this match a spectacle. They had some interesting battles in the past so this will be another great one hopefully.
