Australia’s Nick Kyrgios has extends an open invitation to play doubles with him at the upcoming Miami Open. The ATP 1000 event will begin from March 19 where players from all over the world will participate to showcase their talent at the highest level and secure the ultimate prize.

Kyrgios is expected to take part in the event as well, despite being forced to retire during his previous outing in the singles category at the Indian Wells. The former world number 13, in a post on his official account on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter — has sent an open invitation to play with him in the doubles category. "Miami dubs anyone? Let’s light the sh*t up 🥒🥶," he wrote.

Kyrgios has struggled with fitness concerns in the recent past. He suffered a major wrist injury in 2022, which ruled him out of action for nearly two years. Kyrgios returned to the court late last year in order to feature in the Australian Open, but that return has been once again affected by fitness concerns. His most recent appearance was at the Indian Wells, where he was forced to retire against Netherlands’ Botic van de Zandschulp. The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up was in tears after the match and admitted that he was not too sure about playing in the competition.

“I wasn’t too confident that I was going to be able to play today, to be honest,” he said back then. “Two days ago in practice I had to stop because I felt pain in my wrist. I felt like it was OK to take the court. Just got progressively worse … started feeling sharp pain in my wrist. This process has been probably one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in my life. Reality, it’s not too bad, but for my tennis career, it’s by far the biggest. Just the amount of work that goes in when I go back home or when I’m not playing, it’s not fun. I know that I can’t really be doing any more to try and get back and play. I guess it’s just the amount of work I put in and I’m still having so much discomfort in my wrist. That’s I guess why I got a bit emotional towards the end because it’s one of my favourite tournaments.”
