Murray books Aix Challenger final, to face Tommy Paul for trophy

Andy Murray continued his excellent week in Aix beating native player Mayot in two sets 7-5 6-1 to set up a match against Tommy Paul who won earlier.

The British player has largely avoided clay since his hip injury but he opted to play a bit this year in order to prepare for his last dance at Roland Garros. It's not the surface where he can do a lot of damage but he has a wish to play one last time in Paris and this year will be the year he does it. To get ready he signed up for Aix and played a few good matches book a final today.

It comes after another sturdy performance against native player Mayot. The first set went 7-5 to Murray as he patiently wore down his opponent and then used his chance to break. The second set was much simpler as Murray easily outplayed his opponent taking it 6-1. The final tomorrow will see him play against top 20 player Tommy Paul who downed Goffin.

It was a good showing from the American as he comfortably cruised 6-4 6-2 and tomorrow he'll be a great test for Murray to see where he stands.
