Aryna Sabalenka will contest the
Madrid Open final against Swiatek today at 18:30 CET and she becomes one of the players that will play in at least two finals.
Sabalenka contested her maiden Madrid Open final a few years ago and it was a successful one as she defeated Ashleigh Barty to win the trophy. The Belarusian faces a tricky taste against Swiatek as her recent matches against her proved to be a mixed bag. She's the underdog but even reaching the final two times puts her in elite company with some of the best tennis players in recent memory.
She joins only a handful of players that made it to the final twice. Players like Serena Williams, Petra Kvitova, Simona Halep, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova, Kiki Bertens and more. Perhaps she will become 2x champion as well. Time will tell but even this is quite an achievement for Sabalenka who has been playing the best tennis of her career this year.
