Australia’s tennis star
Nick Kyrgios has stated that he
would’ve loved to face the likes of the former world number one
Roger Federer
and Spain’s
Rafael Nadal in their prime.
The 28-year-old is currently spending time on the sidelines
as he continues to recover from an injury which he suffered last year. It was
because of this reason he did not take part in any major event his year.
Kyrgios was recently quoted in a report where he stated how
he would’ve loved to face the Swiss legendary tennis player Federer and Spaniard
Nadal in their prime.
“I wish I could turn back the clock maybe 10 years,” he
said. “I wish I was coming up during this time so I didn't have to deal with
prime Federer and prime Nadal. That would have been nice. As soon as I'm
healthy again. I feel like I got a chance to do some big things at Wimbledon.”
Kyrgios, who is famous for being outspoken, had arguably the
best year in 2022 while playing at the highest level where he also played in
his maiden and till now the only Grand Slam final.
The Canberra-born suffered a defeat to the current world
number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the final at Wimbledon with a score of 4–6,
6–3, 6–4, 7–6.
