Nick
Kyrgios confirmed his plans to play pickleball alongside
Jack Sock in a
conversation on the Nothing Major Podcast. The Australian is preparing for his
return to the ATP Tour for the 2025 season but is already making plans to play
pickleball professionally.
The
Australian will begin his season at the Brisbane International, his first
official tournament since June 2023, when he was defeated by Yibing Wu in
straight sets. Kyrgios is gearing up for his return to the Australian Open,
where he will enter with his protected ranking.
Kyrgios has
gained more notoriety off the court in recent years, as he has been creating
new ventures in the business and entertainment worlds. He has also appeared on
Grand Slam broadcasts and participated in high-profile interviews. He recently
joined the Nothing Major Podcast alongside Jack Sock,
Sam Querrey,
John Isner,
and
Steve Johnson.
“I’m going
to dink around in Australia,” said Sock. “If he’s in, yeah,” he added,
referring to a potential pickleball doubles partnership with Kyrgios in
Australia.
“You hated
the Aussie Open, but then you’re going to come play pickleball here?” Kyrgios
responded with laughter before agreeing to play with Sock.
While the
2022 Wimbledon runner-up prepares for the start of a new season, he recently
made his appearance at the World Tennis League, a mixed-team event, where he
joined Casper Ruud, Jasmine Paolini, and Simona Halep for Team Kites.
Kyrgios
played doubles with Paolini (winning against Garcia/Shapovalov) and later
teamed up with Ruud to beat Sumit Nagal and Jordan Thompson. He also lost his
only singles match to Andrey Rublev.
