Norrie ends Shelton's Cinderella story, Isner powers past Korda in Cincinnati

The dream run for burgeoning tennis player Ben Shelton came to an end at the Western & Southern Open on Thursday night, as the American was ousted by ninth seed Cameron Norrie in a lop-sided affair.

Norrie looked the superior player during his 6-0 6-2 victory, dictating play as Shelton finally appeared to run out of gas. After an impressive run that saw him defeat World No.5 Casper Ruud in the previous round, Shelton was unable to weather the Norrie storm.

The Brit easily maneuvered his opponent around the court, forcing the World No.229 to scramble for every ball. Norrie saved the only break point faced, while capitalizing on five break opportunities to seal his victory after just 58 minutes.

In an all-American battle, John Isner took down compatriot Sebastian Korda in a thrilling 7-6(3) 1-6 7-6(4) round of 16 encounter. Isner hit 20 aces during the match, but was unable to escape being broken twice by his younger opponent in the second set.

With each man fighting to hold serve in the deciding set, it was Isner's booming first serve that decided the outcome. The towering American won 20 of 20 points behind his first serve in the final set, which was enough to see him get past the resilient Korda after two hours and five minutes.
