One of the most prominent German coaches has been accused of misconduct after an investigation revealed at least two individuals were allegedly mistreated by Dirk Hordorff.
He's an established figure in the tennis world with prominent working relationships with players such as Tipsarevic, Pospisil, Schuettler and more. He is currently also involved in tennis as the mentor of Ricardas Berankis. According to the investigation, one former protege of Hordorff explained:
“In the beginning, he touched his back and stomach, and then he worked his way down to his buttocks. It was very uncomfortable and I thought, what the heck is he doing there?”
According to the report the player said he was emotionally blackmailed by Hordorff who pledged to train him for free until he reached the top 100. The player notified the German tennis federation however an internal investigation concluded that it was not provable with enough certainty. The player in question is currently in prison due to credit card fraud and has been described by those close to him as a notorious liar.
Another former protege came forward with similar allegations prompting Hordorff to hire a lawn firm which commented on his behalf saying that the allegations are simply untrue. He didn't personally comment on the matter but his role within the German Tennis Federation has been put on hold.
