Milos Raonic and
Stan Wawrinka moved to the 2nd round of Rolex
Paris Masters after victories on Tuesday.
Milos Raonic returned to active tennis in Paris today playing against
Aljaz Bedene at the Rolex Masters. It took him only 64 minutes to defeat the Slovenia 6-3 6-2 in an impressive showcase of tennis skill. Raonic was impressive from the start especially on his 2nd serve where he only lost one point during the entire opening set. Serving was a big key as the Canadian could end points quickly. Bedene tried all he could but there was little he could do. The 2nd set was equally impressive from Milos who hit 18 aces in total to the cruising victory over Bedene.
Stan Wawrinka stepped onto the courts as well today playing against
Dan Evans who has played great tennis in Vienna. The Swiss player had a better start despite having to save break points first. After he successfully did that he broke Evans to take the 4-1 lead. He maintained it throughout the set and ultimately won the opening set 6-3. It was the best tennis Stan played in a while and it showed. The 2nd set was mostly a calm affair as neither player could find a breakthrough. Games quickly piled up and we arrived at 5-5. Both won their games so we ended up in a tiebreak. Initially, both players looked comfortable but Wawrinka took initiative and Evans simply could not hold up. He took the 5-2 lead and never looked back winning the match 6-3 7-6(3) in just over an over and half.
