After losing in round two of this event last year,
Roberto Bautista Agut emerged triumphant in 2022 beating native Filip Misolic 6-2 6-2 in the final.
The trophy is the Spaniard's 11th trophy of his career and second this year after he lifted one in Doha earlier this year. The Spaniard played a really strong week of tennis that propelled him into the final without many issues. He proved better than all his opponents comfortably never really facing any trouble. Even in the final, Bautista was largely unbothered.
He was a bit lucky with the draw as he played a rookie who never played in an ATP final before, Filip Misolic. The Austrian received a wild card entry and he blew everyone away with a high level of tennis. Today he was simply outplayed by a better player who has way more experience than him. The Austrian tried but it was to no avail.
Bautista dominated the rallies from the baseline with his precise shots controlling the tempo really well. He returned well and the Austrian was left without ideas pretty early on. Due to his inexperience, Misolic failed to adjust properly and Bautista cruised to a 6-2 6-2 finish. Congratulations.
