Jannik Sinner is known for his calm and collected demeanour on the court and after winning the Australian Open, that has been under the microscope as he came from two sets down to defeat Daniil Medvedev and seal his maiden Grand Slam titles.
Composed under pressure, Sinner said to Marca this past week that he has had to learn that from a young age after spending some of his upbringing losing his temper and he had to learn to control it. He said that while you can't control certain aspects of your game, the one thing you can is your temper and your demeanor on court.
Sinner will return this week at the Rotterdam Open as top seed and kicks off his campaign against Dutchman, Botic van de Zandschulp. He will aim to carry on from his heroics in Melbourne refreshed and ready to go for the rest of the season.
“When I was six or seven years old I was angry, but I wouldn't say very much. I've always been generally calm. Of course I get angry because sometimes I feel tired. But I control my head well. I think I have made a leap in this sense the last two seasons. I understand myself a little better. The mind is the only thing you can control and I feel good.”
