Aslan Karatsev spend much of his career playing on the challenger Tour but one certain Australian Open changed his fortunes for the better dramatically.
Karatsev was a solid player for much of his career but he was never considered one of the better players on the Tour. That changed when he made an incredible run at the Australian Open reaching the semi-finals and losing to Djokovic. The Russian established himself as a really good player after that, not one good enough for the top 20 but certainly a top 40-50 player on the Tour playing weekly on the ATP Tour.
He's made a few runs here and there but he's also dealt with some injuries, injruies with which Andy Murray helped him.

Murray's help

If there is one player that knows a thing or two about injuries it's Andy Murray as he spent a good portion of his career injured. That's why he was able to lend a helping hand to Karatsev advising him on how to deal with injuries and even urging him to visit some of his doctors in London. Karatsev said that he owes him a lot:
“He helped me a lot, we talked about these problems, how to survive the pain, overcome it. This guy is an example! He gave me contact details of his specialist doctors, I went to London specifically for that. I’m very grateful to him. I owe him a lot”
It's proved effective as Karatsev was able to find his form again this year making a very impressive deep run at the Madrid Open recently.
