Casper Ruud
and
Stan Wawrinka criticized the
Paris Masters organization for scheduling
issues that led to
Jannik Sinner's withdrawal.
The last
Masters 1000 tournament of the year has faced controversies due to match
scheduling problems, leaving players with little time between matches. Jannik
Sinner had to play his round of 16 match against Alex De Minaur just 14 hours
after finishing a late-night match against Mackenzie McDonald, resulting in his
withdrawal from the tournament.
This
scheduling issue has occurred multiple times throughout the year, causing
frustration among players. Casper Ruud and Stan Wawrinka expressed their
concerns on social media and criticized the ATP for the recurring problem.

to help one of the best players in the world recover and be as ready as
possible when he finished his previous match at 2:37 am this morning 14,5 hours
to recover.. what a joke,” Casper Ruud wrote.
“It’s crazy
tournament doesn’t care and ATP just follow what the tournament will want 🤷🏻♂️! Always the same story …” Wawrinka
responded to the former world No. 2.
Coach Brad
Gilbert, who currently coaches Coco Gauff, also joined the criticism, pointing
out that the organization doesn't change the court when matches are delayed.
“Crazy why
at 10pm they had plenty of time to switch Sin City 🌆 to court one ☝️ was open, when there was a match still on center and another one to
fallow, before JS vs Mcdonald would get on center, horrendous decision to not
have switched courts plain and simple,” Gilbert stated.
“Monday I
finished 2:30 am I was suppose to play doubles next day 3pm,” Wawrinka added
after Brad Gilbert comments.
After
Sinner's withdrawal, he only has the ATP Finals left. The Italian entered as
the 4th seed, and it's the first time he has directly qualified for the
tournament. In 2021, he participated as an alternate and played two matches
after Matteo Berrettini's withdrawal, with one win and one loss.
