Belarus’ tennis star
Victoria Azarenka believes that the men’s
world number one Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic’s ability to bounce back is one of the
most ‘underrated thing’ in the sport.
The 36-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in
the history of men’s singles tennis in the Open era, having won as many as 24 Grand
Slam titles.
Djokovic recently won another title, the
ATP Finals in
Turin, after defeating the local boy and Italy’s young tennis star Jannik
Sinner in the final with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Azarenka, while congratulating the current world number one
in a post on her official account on social media platform X — previously known
as Twitter — heaped praise on the 24-time Grand Slam winner’s ability to bounce
back after suffering a defeat.
“Novak’s ability after a loss to elevate his level of play
and determination to win no matter what is the most underrated thing in my
opinion I have seen in tennis! Congratulations on another record breaking
performance @DjokerNole,” she wrote.
Those comments made total
sense as Djokovic was defeated by Sinner in the group match with a score of
7-5, 6-7, 7-6. With that title, Djokovic ended the year once again as the world
number one.
