Frances Tiafoe booked his tie with Yosuke Watanuki in the Last 32 of the Indian Wells Open but en route to the court he forgot a pretty vital piece of equipment.
Tiafoe had his shoes in his hands so it wasn't that. It wasn't until he got to his bench with his bag that he realised the error of his ways.
David Witt, his coach had to bring his racquets to him as he wore a racquet bag without any racquets in it. He still managed to win through 7-6, 7-6 in two tight tie-breaks.
But not exactly the start of the tournament that Tiafoe would've wanted. As a David Witt coached player, the latter will have good memories in recent years of Indian Wells including last year where he anchored Maria Sakkari to the final.
They promptly split afterwards ahead of Roland Garros and he now works with the American who has had a resurgence as of late. But he won't be resurgent if he doesn't have his racquets with him.
Got there in the end 😅@FTiafoe came to court missing a pretty important piece of equipment last night… 🤣#TennisParadise pic.twitter.com/Tm5lRHy1FF
