Italy’s tennis star
Jannik Sinner has stated that he has
moved on from a controversy during the
Monte-Carlo Masters. The 22-year-old is
often regarded as one of the most highly-rated players currently playing in the
men’s singles category along with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
Sinner suffered a defeat in a controversial manner during
the semifinal of the Monte-Carlo Masters to Greece’s
Stefanos Tsitsipas. Having already broken the serve of his opponent in the third
and final set, the current world number two was just one point away from
securing a 4-1 lead when the line umpire failed to identify Tsitsipas’ double
fault which allowed him to win that service game and kept his hopes
alive after making it 3-2.
Sinner was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
he believes everyone can make mistakes and that he is the kind of person who believes
in moving on ‘as fast as possible’. “Everyone can make mistakes, for me what happened, happened,”
he said. “I’m a guy that tries to forget about this as fast as possible. I
accept these kinds of things, there is no reason to get p***** or to get angry.
Jannik Sinner revealed that he spent time with his family after suffering a heartbreaking defeat at Monte-Carlo Masters.
"For sure in this moment it was a little bit like this and for sure the next
day, wanting to be on the court playing instead of at home but you know, this
you have to accept. “I just tried to recover a little bit [after Monte Carlo],
not just from the physical side but from the mental side, I had a very intense
start to the season which I’m very happy and proud about. I just went to my
parents’ home, two days, not long and then this is just what I need sometimes.
I love to spend time with great people, so that gives me a lot of energy.”
