Alexander Zverev lost to
Daniil Medvedev at the
Rome Open and he'll lose the status of being Germany's number one player due to the loss with Struff taking over.
Sascha Zverev has been the best player from Germany since 2016 and but now he'll be ranked behind Jan-Lennard Stuff who will officially become Germany's world number one next week. That means that he will be the top German seed at Roland Garros and it comes after some incredible performances by him this year.
It also comes as Zverev continues to struggle and lose all the points that he earned last year and it's been a troublesome trend for him. He needs to be very careful and avoid these losing streaks because he could possibly find himself ranked outside of the top 50.
He's already outside of the top 20 and he has a fair amount of points to defend at Roland Garros. This form right now doesn't guarantee him that he'll be able to do that and he could slip further down the rankings. Becker recently warned Zverev against dropping further in the rankings because the comeback will become even further.
